Dalmatian - Medium - Young - Female - Dog - Roxy
Description
Hello. I would like to tell you my story. I was born in a man's back yard about a year ago. My mom is Coco and she is a very good mama. But I was never touched or cuddled or kissed or petted by a human in my whole life. The man who owned us would just put out food. My mom ate nearly all of it so I was as skinny as a dog could be. And I am scared to death of humans. Now since coming to my foster home, I have learned that Dalmatians are outgoing, friendly, and just love humans. There are six Dallies here and they all fit this description. I dont and I never will. I am as sweet as they come and would never, ever snap or bite, even when I am cornered and terrified. But I am not ever going to be a run-to-the- doorbell dog. For many days my foster mom attached me to her with a leash and belt so I couldnt run away. I am getting used to her but still stiffen when she hugs me. I come to her to get treats now but still run for cover if she stands up or moves toward me. Now I have learned to run to my bed and roll on my back so she can come and get me, and I can run past her into or out of the house instead of hiding until she is gone. But I am sure something awful can happen to me and I am always alert. I sleep next to my moms bed. When she wakes up I am so excited that I get up and kiss her toes and wiggle from head to toe. I even get brave enough to come over and nibble her fingers and let her touch my chin. I WANT to be a friendly doggie. I am totally dependable inside the house and am never destructive. I am housebroken and use a doggie door. I need a mom or dad who can spend lots of time with me and not give up on me. I wont be a dog who wants to sit in the lap of strangers but I can become a girl who loves her mom or dad. I think Id be too nervous to live with young, noisy kids but I would love another playful doggie brother or sister. So if you think youd have the patience and love to be my mom or dad, call and ask for Roxy. UPDATE from the foster mom: Roxy is doing so well. she has been here for four months now and is the happiest little girl in the house. She wiggles so hard that everything moves from the waist down to the tip of her tail. She comes running for treats (her favorite thing) and loves to have her tummy rubbed. She jumps up on me to give kisses and is learning the command 'up' so she can do that when asked. She gives kisses now and asks for ear and neck rubs often. She even gets on the bed to curl up by my feet. Roxy still startles at sudden movement but doesn't feel she needs to run when I get up. She plays all day long with two of my other young Dals and adores Elijah beyond all else. She absolutely needs another playful dog as she bonds to dogs well and that would give her confidence.
