* { font:inherit; } Please contact Janelle (janellechavez@q.com), (505) 304-3384 for more information about this pet.Beautiful and sweetApproximate DOB:  01/01/1999Comet came to us about 4 years ago.  She had been headed for slaughter.  We got her home and I started working with her.. Someone had obviously been very rough with her and may have ear twitched her quite a bit.  She also had a huge gash in her hed and was severely head shy.  Poor girl had been through so much.. We slowly gained her trust and figured out that she prefers a mechanical hackamore over a bit.  Unfortunately due to my long work schedule I never got around to putting a good foundation on her as I would have liked.  So basically we just rode her the way she was and she has been a wonderful girl.. My kids have both ridden her and she is just a doll -- most of the time.. She has not been ridden in about 2 years though since we have gotten much busier in the rescue..So as of right now her and Sable just hang out on the back porch waiting for us to go out and give them pets.  They are like 2 big dogs that just follow us around the yard..  Comet does come when called so is very easy to catch, she stands ok for the farrier however does lean quite a bit, she would prefer never to be dewormed but tolerates us giving it to her, and I am sure will be a cinch to get back under the saddle..  We are hoping to find a great home for them with a place to graze and run.. She does seem to enjoy going out on the ditch banks as well so may make a great trail horse once someone works with her some more.. She did have her teeth floated about a year ago and will get an exam before going out to her new home.. Her adoption fee of $800 will include her halter and lead, her mechanical hackamore bridle, a set of Dennis Reis training DVDs, a full exam with float and vaccines, her hooves trimmed, and a microchip (yes she will be chipped prior to leaving to ensure her safety).  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.  If you would like to adopt Comet please send me an e-mail requesting the application.
